Belgian man dies from injuries sustained in attack in Hua Hin

A Belgian man who was gravely injured in a brutal attack in Hua Hin in April has died from his injuries, it has been announced.

Jan Valkenborg from Riemst, Limburg province, was in Hua Hin when he was assaulted by a German national. The attacker, who had a criminal record and was a member of a fight club, also assaulted another person that same evening. Continued …

561 factories in Thailand have shut their doors this year

Hideyasu Kiyomoto, the mayor of Himeji City in Japan, this week proposed a significant price hike for foreign tourists visiting Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Currently, the entry fee is JPY 1,000 (about $6) for all, but the mayor suggested increasing it to around $30 for foreigners, while locals would pay $5. The extra revenue would help with maintenance and to counter overtourism.

An investigation into officers involved with the three missing seized oil-smuggling vessels is underway after a leaked chat showed a connection between some police and the mastermind of the oil smuggling gang.

The three seized ships, containing 330,000 liters of smuggled oil, had been docked at the marine police pier in Chon Buri’s Sattahip district along with two other seized vessels on March 19. Loei gears up for Phi Ta Khon Festival

Covid-infected PM visits Hua Hin Airport

Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin conducted another inspection of Hua Hin Airport on Sunday, providing an update on the redevelopment plans announced last month. The redevelopment includes a major expansion and renaming the airport to “Phetch Hua Hin” airport.

The Thai Labor Department announced that over 26,000 undocumented foreign workers from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam were arrested within a week.

Hua Hin police have arrested a suspect in connection with a series of thefts targeting air conditioner compressors in villas across the Hin Lek Fai and Nong Kae subdistricts.

Between June 2 and June 4, several residents filed complaints at the Hua Hin Police Station, reporting that copper pipes connected to air compressors had been stolen from their properties. Thailand Secures Live Broadcast of UEFA Euro 2024

Headline inflation up 1.54%, above forecast

Thailand’s headline consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.54% in May from a year earlier, after the previous month’s annual rise of 0.19%, the Commerce Ministry said today.

On Sat urday, Khok Tum police received an emergency call about three individuals drowning at the Bott Camping Ground in Mueang Lopburi. Although two men were rescued, one individual remains missing.

Thai police have dismantled a vast network that illicitly assisted foreigners, primarily Russians, in securing long-term stays in Thailand through fraudulent means involving shell companies, officials reported on Friday.

The operation, spearheaded by a 45-year-old Russian woman and a Thai accomplice, facilitated foreign residency by setting up bogus companies.
