Weather officials forecast downpour throughout Thailand
The Thai Meteorological Department said today that across Thailand, intense rain is anticipated for 60% to 80% of the country, with some regions expected to experience heavy downpours. Particularly for Bangkok, afternoon to evening rain showers are expected.

Covid-19 survivors have 24% higher risk of developing Type-2 diabetes
Research has revealed that people who test positive for Covid-19 are at an increased risk of developing Type-2 diabetes. The disclosure came from Dr. Thira Woratanarat of Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine, who referred to a study recently unveiled on the MedRxiv.org portal.
This research incorporated a sample size of 15 million people from the United Kingdom, Dr. Woratanarat explained. It found that individuals who contracted the Covid virus run a 24% higher risk of falling victim to Type-2 diabetes, in comparison to those unaffected by the virus. Continued …
Thailand Elite cancels visa change at the last minute
On the last enrollment day, Aug. 15, that holders of the five-year Elite “easy access”, five-year visas had been instructed to submit an application for a 15 years upgrade to 20 years in total, they have received an email from Thailand Privilege Card Co. informing them the new rule has suddenly and abruptly been scrapped.

Digital economy continues its forward march
The digital economy contributed 2.1 billion baht to Thailand’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2022, marking a 1.9% increase from the 2.04 billion baht the previous year.
Putchapong Nodthaisong, secretary-general of the Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission (ONDE-Thailand), said this week that Thailand’s digital economy GDP in 2022 grew by 3.49% compared to the 4.44 billion baht the previous year. EEC’s Map Ta Phut port to see third phase by 2027

High tourism season to see 2,600 flights a day: AeroThai
The Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (AeroThai) projects that some 2,600 flights per day will land at Suvarnabhumi during this year’s high tourism season, which would result in a figure of over one million flights for this entire year.
According to Nopasit Chakpitak, president of AeroThai, the figures are expected to approach the levels seen before the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019. Hua Hin now has once-daily bus service to Pattaya, leaving Hua Hin at 9am and departing from Pattaya at 8am. Tickets are 473 THB.
