The Royal Irrigation Department has inspected 11 dams in Chiang Mai province following a 4.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred yesterday in Phrao District. The department confirmed that all dams remain strong, stable, and 100% safe.

Thailand logged 65,000 new Covid cases, 3 deaths last week

Thailand recorded 65,880 Covid-19 cases and three deaths in the last week of May but the outbreak was waning from its yearly peak, according to the public health minister. Minister Somsak Thepsuthin said yesterday the new cases and fatalities were recorded from May 25 to 31.

People aged 30-39 formed the biggest group of new cases, 12,403, followed by 10,368 in their 20s, and 9,590 aged 60 and over. The disease was spreading naturally in the rainy season, the minister said. Continued …

Listed firms see profits rise but sales decline

Thai listed companies reported a mixed earnings picture for the first quarter of 2025, with overall net profits rising on the back of a strong performance in consumption and services-related sectors, while overall sales and operating profits declined due to pressure from falling oil prices and sluggish energy demand.

Motorcycle sales see 3.8% uptick in April

The phrase “fair pricing” in Thailand, especially in tourist hubs like Pattaya, often feels more like the setup to a joke than a serious policy.     The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

    The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

    Starting May 1, the Don Mueang-Hua Hin route will offer four round trips per day. The two outbound trips from Don Mueang Airport will depart at 8 am and 3 pm. Trump’s tariffs to remain in effect after appeals court grants stay

A federal appeals court temporarily reinstated the most sweeping of President Donald Trump’s tariffs yesterday, a day after a U.S. trade court ruled that Trump had exceeded his authority in imposing the duties and ordered an immediate block on them.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington said it was pausing the lower court’s ruling to consider the government’s appeal, and ordered the plaintiffs in the cases to respond by June 5 and the administration by June 9. Continued …

Thailand is in deeper trouble among its peer group in view of United States President Donald Trump’s tariff offensive. Yet, senior Thai officials appear nonchalant, complacent and smug. Thailand’s tourists and short-term visitors are hitting a banking brick wall, with Bangkok Bank axing account services for those without long-term visas. Faulty Equipment Said to Blame for Helicopter Crash

A senior Royal Thai Police official has confirmed that the recent police helicopter crash in Prachuap Khiri Khan province was caused by mechanical failure, not sabotage or external attack.

According to the investigation, the crash occurred when the helicopter’s main rotor malfunctioned, resulting in one of the blades severing the tail rotor. Covid Cases Surge to 67,484 in a Single Week

Thailand is grappling with a growing Covid-19 crisis, as 67,484 new cases were reported within a week, alongside eight fatalities. The presence of the Omicron variant, specifically JN.1, is driving the pandemic wave. Schools told to stay open despite Covid

Schools should not be closed to control a seasonal surge of Covid-19, as proper screening and isolation measures are sufficient to limit the virus’s spread within education institutions, says the Department of Disease Control (DDC).

New Schedule: Bus service between Hua Hin, Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok

The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

A series of final chat messages have come to light from the pilot who tragically died in the police helicopter crash in Prachuap Khiri Khan on Saturday. The messages reveal deep concerns about the airworthiness of the aircraft shortly before the fatal flight.

Loophole could let Southeast Asian solar panels enter US without antidumping duties

If the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) does not quickly publish its final determination in the antidumping/countervailing duty (AD/CVD) investigation affecting solar panels from Southeast Asia, a potential loophole could allow millions of solar panels to enter the U.S. market untariffed. This is according to the American Alliance for Solar Manufacturing Trade Committee, the successful petitioners in the AD/CVD case.

The committee says large quantities of solar cells and panels from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam are being held in bonded warehouses and in inventories, and could enter the United States without duties if the ITC does not pass on its final determination to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) by June 2. Safety concerns and structural issues hinder Chinese travel to Thailand

According to an analysis by KKP Research, Chinese visitors to Thailand had recovered to 60%–70% of pre-Covid-19 levels by late 2024. However, following the Chinese New Year in January 2025, the number of Chinese tourists sharply declined by nearly half, dropping to fewer than 300,000 visitors per month — equivalent to only 30% of the pre-pandemic figures.

Two local festivals this weekend

Two beachside festivals featuring local cuisine and live entertainment are set to take place near Hua Hin thiks weekend.

In Pranburi, the Taste on the Rock festival will be held at Khao Kalok Beach over three days. Volunteers Improve Local Temple Road

The Sahaviriya Steel Group organized a community volunteer activity Saturday to improve access to Wang Yao Monastery, located in Bang Saphan District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. LPG Truck Overturns on Phetkasem Road, Causing 10km Traffic Jam

A liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker overturned yesterday morning on Phetkasem Road southbound near Ban Wa Thon, Khlong Wan subdistrict, Prachuap Khiri Khan, blocking traffic and causing a congestion stretch of approximately 10 kilometers.

The Thai Meteorological Department today issued a weather advisory warning of widespread rainfall, including isolated heavy to very heavy showers, as the monsoon system strengthens across much of the country.

Covid-19 cases top 53,500 in week, Bangkok most infected

There were 53,563 covid-19 cases reported in Thailand last week, with five deaths, and Bangkok had the most infections, according to the Department of Disease Control. Of the cases, 2,827 were inpatients and 50,736 outpatients.

Patients aged 30-39 years old formed the biggest group, 10,740, followed by 20-29 (9,527), 60 and over (8,107) and 4,117 young children aged up to four years. Continued …

Condo residents fuming – still unable to return 2 months after quake

Residents of a 900-unit condominium in the Chokchai Ruammit area of Bangkokare furious with their juristic person because even though two months have passed since the big earthquake on March 28, they are still unable to live in their homes.

Thailand’s imports from China hit record high amid trade uncertainty and 90-day tariff truce

Thailand’s trade deficit with China has surged to a historic high, with imports soaring during the first four months of 2025, as businesses rush to secure raw materials amid global trade uncertainties, particularly ahead of potential U.S. tariff changes.

    New Schedule: Bus service between Hua Hin, Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok

    The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

Former TAT governor offers solutions to Thailand’s tourism crisis as Chinese arrivals plummet

Thailand’s tourism industry is in serious decline, as the number of Chinese tourists — a key driver of the market — has dropped dramatically. In 2019, before the pandemic, Thailand welcomed 11 million Chinese tourists, representing 27% of the total 39.8 million international visitors. That equated to around 900,000 Chinese arrivals per month, or roughly 30,000 per day.

Fast forward to 2025, and the situation has changed drastically. In January, there were about 22,000 Chinese tourists per day. By the end of April, that figure had fallen to around 10,000. The average daily arrival from China during the first four months of 2025 was only about 13,000. By early May, the daily number had dipped below 10,000, with just 7,288 Chinese tourists recorded on May 5 and 8,379 on May 13. Continued …

New Schedule: Bus service between Hua Hin, Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok

The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

Starting May 1, the Don Mueang-Hua Hin route will offer four round trips per day. The two outbound trips from Don Mueang Airport will depart at 8 am and 3 pm. Solar farm developer SPCG expects its revenue to fall this year after the adder tariff granted to its 36 solar farms came to an end in July 2024. The adder tariff allows the company to sell electricity at prices above regular rates.

Indonesia to make producers responsible for plastic waste

The Indonesia Ministry of Environment has said that it is planning to ensure producers take full responsibility for the plastic waste generated by their products, as part of the “extended producer responsibility (EPR)” scheme.

  • New Schedule: Bus service between Hua Hin, Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok

    The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

    Starting May 1, the Don Mueang-Hua Hin route will offer four round trips per day. The two outbound trips from Don Mueang Airport will depart at 8 am and 3 pm. The bus will stop at eight locations, including the Service Hall at Don Mueang, Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal in Bangkok, Mahachai, Phetchaburi Big C, Phetchaburi Bus Station, Cha Am PTT Petrol Station, Bluport Hua Hin Resort Mall, and the Hua Hin Bus Station.

    For the return trips from Hua Hin, buses will depart at  9 am and 3:30 pm, stopping at seven locations, including the Hua Hin Bus Station, Bluport Hua Hin Resort Mall, Cha Am PTT Petrol Station, Phetchaburi Bus Station, Mahachai, Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal, and Don Mueang Airport.
