Be Well Medical Center and Nana Dental Join Forces

Be Well Medical Center and Nana Dental have announced their strategic collaboration effective Aug.1. Under the cooperation agreement, Nana Dental will take over the operational management of Be Well’s dental department at the Belvida location. The department will continue working under the Be Well name.

Eight Confirmed Dead, Two Still Missing After Inferno at Tissue Factory

Eight workers have been confirmed dead and two others remain unaccounted for following a major fire that tore through a tissue paper factory in Nong Khae district, Saraburi.

The blaze rapidly consumed large parts of the building due to the highly flammable materials inside. According to initial reports, 10 employees were trapped inside the office area on the second and third floors when the fire erupted. Despite the immediate response from emergency services and hours of relentless firefighting, the fire could not be brought under control before claiming multiple lives. Continued …

Bangkok building collapse tied to construction and design flaws

Thai investigators concluded that flaws in the design and construction methods caused the collapse of a partially built Bangkok building that killed at least 89 people during the March 28 earthquake, according to Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

An investigation by a government agency and three universities found that the elevator and stairwell walls — key structures meant to absorb shear force — were improperly designed and built. Kobsak Pootrakool, a senior executive at BBL, explained that the uncertainty plaguing Thailand’s political scene could deter investment in both public and private sectors. Businesses are hesitant to make investment plans until there’s clarity on U.S.-Thai trade relations and potential tariff impacts.

Thailand requests US to cap reciprocal tariff at 10%

The 90-day negotiation deadline on reciprocal tariffs between the United States and several countries, including Thailand, is set to expire on July 7. Indian travel demand to prop up Thai aviation

Snakes on a plane, again: India foils third Thailand wildlife smuggling attempt this month

Indian customs officers in Mumbai said they have stopped a plane passenger arriving from Thailand with a wriggling cargo of live snakes, the third such seizure this month. The passenger, who arrived on Sunday, has been arrested, the customs agency said, with “further investigation underway”.

The live snakes included reptiles often sold in the pet trade, and were largely non-venomous, or with venom too weak to affect people. In early June, customs officers stopped a passenger smuggling dozens of venomous vipers, also arriving from Thailand.         The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

Road work on Soi 94 still in turmoil

Hua Hin City has held an urgent meeting in a bid to speed up the delayed construction of Soi 94, a key road project that has caused months of disruption for local residents and businesses.

The meeting was called to address ongoing delays in the project, which involves resurfacing a 500-meter stretch of Soi 94 with reinforced concrete and installing an upgraded drainage system. The project, which began on July 22, 2024, was initially due for completion in February 2025 but was halted after underground utility issues and soil subsidence required a full revision of the construction plans. Foreign investment in Thailand surges 34% as EEC draws over 47 billion baht

Oramon Sapthaweetham, director-general of the Department of Business Development , reported that foreign investment in Thailand saw a significant increase during the first five months of 2025 (January–May), with 426 foreign entities approved to operate businesses under the Foreign Business Act 1999.

Gulf hits renewable target 5 years early

Gulf Development, Thailand’s largest energy company by market value and a telecom operator, has achieved its target to increase its renewable power proportion to 40% of total electricity generation capacity following a recent investment in solar farms. The company reached the goal ahead of the target year of 2030.

Prayad Marksaeng crowned Toyota Senior Championship winner in Hua Hin

Local golf pro Prayad Marksaeng clinched the championship title at the Toyota Senior Championship/Zenn Cup 2025, the third stop on the 2025 Thai Senior Tour. Prayad, 59, finished with a 14-under-par total of 202, earning him the winner’s cheque of 120,000 Thai baht.

Alcohol sales easing awaits ministry nod

The committee on alcohol beverage control has acknowledged that the easing of alcohol bans on Buddhist holy days has yet to be extended to ordinary retail shops, pending clarification from the Ministry of Interior.

Dr. Nipon Chinanonwait, director of the Office of Alcohol Control Committee under the Ministry of Public Health, said the committee has yet to receive a response from the Interior Ministry regarding the definition of “place of business”, particularly regarding ordinary shops. Continued …

Weekend sees more heavy rain across Thailand in seasonal deluge

Thailand’s Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a warning for 57 provinces to prepare for heavy rainfall over the weekend. The northeastern and northern regions, as well as Bangkok and surrounding areas, are expected to experience significant rainfall, covering 60%-80% of these areas.

The southern region (east coast) will experience thunderstorms across 40% of the area, mainly affecting Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. Temperatures will range between 23-25°C at the lowest and 32-35°C at the highest. Continued …

Thailand’s BOI Approves $870 Million in New Investment Projects

The Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) has approved investment applications worth a total of 28.6 billion baht (US$870 million) in digital infrastructure and travel sector projects, as well as improved incentives for the use of local content in the manufacturing of electric vehicles (EV) and hybrids, as well as electrical appliances (E&E).

The largest project approved is Stratus Technology Co.’s plan to invest 23.7 billion baht to build a Tier 3 data center with an IT load of approximately 203 megawatts (MW). Thai-Cambodian border closure could lead to a 60-billion-baht decline in border exports if the situation persists until the end of the year, the Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) warned yesterday.

Editor: A “promenade” is in the plans. However, legal action by the affected businesses is a possibility, delaying any demolition and possible “improvements” perhaps by years.

Red Cross and Hua Hin District Fair starts today

The 27th annual Red Cross and Hua Hin District Fair will take place from June 27 to July 6. Authorities have set a final deadline ofJuly 7 for the demolition of more than 30 beachside buildings in Hua Hin that have been deemed illegal due to encroachment on public coastal land.

The buildings in question include homes, guesthouses, and seafood restaurants, many of which have become familiar fixtures in the area over several decades. Hua Hin installs high-capacity water pumps to help prevent flooding

Hua Hin has begun operating two high-capacity water pumps to reduce the risk of flooding during the rainy season. The pumps, provided by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (Region 4), are diesel-powered and capable of discharging 31,500 liters of water per minute. They have been installed at two key locations — at the end of the Khlong Takiab canal and near the Huana Reservoir.

Thailand Enforces Sweeping Ban on Electronic Waste Imports

Thailand has taken a pivotal step toward sustainable environmental management with the implementation of a comprehensive ban on electronic waste imports. A new ministerial notification from the Ministry of Commerce, classifying e-waste as illegal for admission into the Kingdom, went into effect on Tuesday, following its publication in the Royal Gazette that same day.

The number of prohibited electronic waste items has increased from 428 to 463.     The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

Chamber frets over export threat in H2

Thailand’s trade deficit with China has widened significantly, reaching 768 billion baht in the first five months of 2025 (January–May) — a sharp increase of over 200 billion baht from the same period last year, according to a report from the Ministry of Commerce.

Thailand car production rises for first time in nearly 2 years

Car production in Thailand rose 10.3% in May from a year earlier, with the first annual rise in 22 months helped by higher pickup truck output for export markets, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) said on  Tuesday.

The government needs to reconsider its plan to increase the daily minimum wage in Bangkok to 400 baht from July 1, as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) cannot bear additional costs in such a weak economy, which is expected to slow further in the second half of this year, says the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

New minimum wage could lead to hotel layoffs

Large-scale layoffs in the hotel sector could be seen during this low season if the government agrees to raise the minimum wage to 400 baht from next week as planned, while the Thai Hotels Assn.(THA) has submitted a petition to the prime minister, asking for the policy to be cancelled.

Phuket Fines Over 28,000 Foreign Tourists for Traffic Offenses So Far in 2025

Phuket officials have reported that 28,809 foreign tourists have been fined for traffic violations on the island to date in 2025. Russian visitors topped the list with 3,121 cases, followed by tourists from China (1,721), the UK (1,419), France (1,365), and India (1,069).

Since Jan. 1, the police have arrested 369 foreigners for various offenses. These include 87 violations of the Immigration Act, 65 cases of drunk driving, and 27 breaches of the Alien Employment Act. Hua Hin Jazz Festival to return to the beach November 28-29

The Hua Hin Jazz Festival is set to return to the beach in front of the Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin on Nov. 28 and 29, organizers have confirmed. The announcement marks a return to what many consider the festival’s original and most iconic location, with jazz performances once again taking place on the sands of Hua Hin beach.

First phase of ‘Moon Curve Roundabout’ project completed

Hua Hin City municipality has confirmed the completion of the first phase of construction on the “Moon Curve Roundabout”, a project designed to ease long-standing traffic congestion at one of the town’s busiest junctions.

On Tuesday, Jirawat Phrammanee, municipal clerk and chairman of the Project Acceptance Committee, led an inspection of the site alongside committee members and supervising engineers. Resurfacing work on Nong Kae–Takiab Road from June 23–29

Hua Hin City municipality has advised motorists to avoid Nong Kae–Takiab Road between June 23-29 while resurfacing work is carried out. Officials said the resurfacing will involve laying asphalt concrete along a designated section of the road.

The work will be conducted by a private contractor, with resurfacing taking place on one side of the road per day, alternating between the left and right lanes. The municipality said the work is scheduled to progress at a rate of around 100 meters per day. Continued …

The resurfacing of the road running through Suan Luang Queen’s Park 19 Rai in Hua Hin has been completed, following a final inspection carried out on Tuesday.

Hua Hin is set to welcome some of the country’s top snooker players next month as the city hosts the “TKC Hua Hin Cup 2025”, a professional-ranking snooker tournament. The event, officially the sixth in the 2025 Division 1 professional-ranking snooker series, will be held from July 7-12 at the Hua Hin Grand Hotel & Plaza.

14-Year-Old Boy Dies After Family Starves for Weeks, Surviving Only on Tap Water

Wage hike to pose a test for restaurateurs

Raising the daily minimum wage to 400 baht will add pressure to struggling Thai restaurateurs, says the Thai Restaurant Assn. On Tuesday, the national wage committee agreed to increase the daily minimum wage to 400 baht for all workers in Bangkok from July 1.

The 400-baht minimum daily rate also applies to workers in most hotels and entertainment venues nationwide. In general, restaurant operators already pay more than the minimum wage to attract workers, especially Thais, according to the association. The People’s Party (PP) and the Thai Labor Solidarity Confederation have called on Labor Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn to reconsider the latest minimum wage rise, arguing all workers across Thailand should receive the uniform rate of 400 baht per day.

Soldier Killed in Ambush During Patrol in Yala Province

A soldier has died following an ambush by insurgents while on patrol in Yala’s Bannang Sata district, one of the most volatile regions in the country’s deep south. The incident occurred on Monday when armed assailants opened fire on a military patrol unit traveling along a route in Ban Wang Hin, Bannang Sata subdistrict.

Cabinet agrees to F1 races being held in Thailand in 2028

The cabinet yesterday approved a proposal from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports to bid to host Formula 1 races in Thailand for five consecutive years, starting in 2028, subject to approval by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the sport’s governing body, and other F1-related entities.

Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong said the costs of organizing the races for five years are estimated at about 40 billion baht, which will be approved annually by the cabinet. Continued …

Cabinet approves EV bus leasing for Bangkok

The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

Starting May 1, the Don Mueang-Hua Hin route will offer two round trips per day. The two outbound trips from Don Mueang Airport will depart at 8 am and 3 pm. The bus will stop at eight locations, including the Service Hall at Don Mueang, Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal in Bangkok, Mahachai, Phetchaburi Big C, Phetchaburi Bus Station, Cha Am PTT Petrol Station, Bluport Hua Hin Resort Mall, and the Hua Hin Bus Station.

For the return trips from Hua Hin, buses will depart at  9 am and 3:30 pm, stopping at seven locations, including the Hua Hin Bus Station, Bluport Hua Hin Resort Mall, Cha Am PTT Petrol Station, Phetchaburi Bus Station, Mahachai, Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal, and Don Mueang Airport.

Thailand–Cambodia Tensions May Shutter Key Checkpoints, Slash Trade by 60%

A potential closure of five vital border checkpoints between Thailand and Cambodia could result in monumental financial losses. The Customs Department estimates that closing these gates could impact trade worth 174.53 billion baht.

Chief among the trade crossings at risk is the Aranyaprathet checkpoint in Sa Kaeo province, which handled over 110 billion baht of commerce with Cambodia last year. Tourism dip fuels worst stock drop in Asia at Thai airport firm

Thailand’s post-Covid flood of tourists has turned into more of a trickle, adding to concerns for Airports of Thailand (AoT) as it grapples with shrinking duty-free sales without a full-time chief executive officer.

Its shares have more than halved in 2025, notching the steepest loss among any of the world’s airport operators worth at least $100 million, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. 3 Thai herbs earn special status

Three of Thailand’s most common medicinal herbs – phlai, black ginger and kratom – have been listed as the herbs of the year for 2025 by the National Herbal Medicines Policy Committee.

Thailand’s green tech startups are emerging, in line with the country’s ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets and the global momentum toward environmental, social, and governance standards. However, some obstacles need to be addressed for these startups to thrive.

  • Bus service between Hua Hin, Don Mueang Airport in BangkokThe first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

    Starting May 1, the Don Mueang-Hua Hin route will offer four round trips per day. The two outbound trips from Don Mueang Airport will depart at 8 am and 3 pm. The bus will stop at eight locations, including the Service Hall at Don Mueang, Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal in Bangkok, Mahachai, Phetchaburi Big C, Phetchaburi Bus Station, Cha Am PTT Petrol Station, Bluport Hua Hin Resort Mall, and the Hua Hin Bus Station.

    For the return trips from Hua Hin, buses will depart at  9 am and 3:30 pm, stopping at seven locations, including the Hua Hin Bus Station, Bluport Hua Hin Resort Mall, Cha Am PTT Petrol Station, Phetchaburi Bus Station, Mahachai, Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal, and Don Mueang Airport.
