First 4 weeks of January sees 28% higher foreign arrivals

Thailand has welcomed over 2.7 million overseas visitors from Jan. 1-28, a 27.8% jump compared to Jan. 1-31 last year, government spokesperson Chai Wacharonke said on Friday.

Hua Hin officials have revealed more plans about the renovation of the iconic Chatchai Market. The decision to upgrade the market is aimed at enhancing the shopping experience and ensuring hygienic standards.

Under the new plan, Chatchai Market will feature a total of 44 stalls, each with dimensions of 2×2 meters, dedicated to the sale of food items, souvenirs, and local products. In addition to the commercial spaces, the renovation will introduce separate male and female restrooms, dish washing zones, dining areas, and an updated electrical system complete with CCTV surveillance. Transport Ministry outlines its projects for 2024

The Ministry of Transport has allocated 389.75 billion baht to fund transportation projects as part of the government’s plan to create a seamless transportation system in Thailand.

Thai workers overseas contribute 60 billion baht in Q1

Thanawat “Shane” Promwen, 8 years old, started his adventure across the Gulf of Thailand this morning, embarking on a journey of 110 kilometers (70 miles) from Pattaya to Pak Nam Pran, in the Hua Hin area, setting the record for being the youngest child ever to achieve this goal. by crossing with kite foil.

Shane has been making waves in the kite and wing foilling world since the age of 3, and his latest adventure marks a big step forward. In preparation for international competition in 2024. COVID-19 hospital admissions increase 12.9% during the past week

COVID-19 infections in Thailand are on the rise, with 718 patients being admitted to hospitals between Jan. 14-20. Of these, 11 have died, compared to four a week earlier, according to the Department of Disease Control.

An average of 102 admissions were reported each day during the past week, an increase of 12.9%. Of the 718 admissions, 209 were suffering from serious lung infections and 149 required ventilators. Continued …

Changan Automobile, the Chongqing, China-based automobile manufacturer, is upbeat about Thailand’s electric vehicle market, designating the country as its strategic export base with an ambitious target of selling 20,000 EVs in the country this year.

Shen Xinghua, chairman of Changan Auto Sales (Thailand), said the Thai government has set a target for 30% of all vehicles produced in Thailand to be EVs by 2030, according to the three-phase national development plan. Thailand ranks 13th among world food exporters, accounting for 2.3% of the global food market, valued at approximately 1.1 billion baht. However, according to the GermanWatch Global Climate Risk Index 2021, Thailand ranks ninth out of 180 countries for long-term climate risk.

Climate risk affects Thailand in several aspects, especially in tourism and agriculture. Last year, El Niño resulted in droughts, impacting agricultural production in Thailand. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is expecting more than 1 million foreign tourists to arrive in the country this Chinese New Year to celebrate alongside more than 2 million local tourists.

According to Tourism and Sports Minister Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, the upcoming Chinese New Year, which runs from Feb. 8 to 16, should bring in about 195,825 tourists from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
