Two Foreign Nationals Among 32 Killed in Train–Crane Crash

Two foreign nationals are among the 32 people confirmed dead following a collision between a train and a crane in Nakhon Ratchasima province. The victims have been identified as Friedrich Wilhelm, a German national, and Kim Yongho, whose nationality has not yet been confirmed.

Company responsible for Bangkok building collapse headed project

Canadian tourist drowns while swimming off Khao Takiab

The body of a Canadian tourist has been found off the coast of Sam Roi Yot, three days after he went missing while swimming in rough sea conditions near Khao Takiab Temple.

A 51-year-old Thai man was arrested Saturday afternoon in Phuket after a violent road crash killed a French tourist and seriously injured another, police said. Thanakorn Kasetsuwan, chairman of the TNSC, said the council expects export growth in 2026 to be lower than 2025’s double-digit rebound. Cannabis shops face clampdown

The Ministry of Public Health is pushing to enact a new ministerial regulation on cannabis before the next government takes office, with the draft now under review by the Office of the Council of State.

Thailand targets tourist growth of over 10% in 2026, foreign tourist arrivals fall by 7.23% in 2025

Thailand this week confirmed a 7.23% fall in foreign tourist arrivals from 2024. At the same time, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Gov. Thapanee Kiatphaibool is projecting a strong rebound in 2026, targeting a 10.35% rise to 36.7 million arrivals.

However, the same forces that dragged numbers down last year still exist. Crime concerns, a regional war with Cambodia, and a strengthening baht continue to weigh on demand. A 20-year-old Myanmar national has died following a violent assault at Hua Hin fishing pier, with police arresting three teenage suspects within hours of the incident. Unsafe levels of smog in Bangkok and 48 provinces

Unsafe ultrafine dust (PM2.5) levels exceeded Thailand’s safety limit in Bangkok and 48 of the country’s 76 provinces this morning, with the highest concentration recorded in Nong Khai.

The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency reported hat unsafe levels of particulate matter 2.5 micrometers and less in diameter (PM2.5) ranged from 37.8 to 74.0 micrograms per cubic metet (µg/m³) of air in Bangkok and 48 provinces. The Second Army Area reported at 9 am today the security situation along the Thai-Cambodian border based on developments yesterday, under a ceasefire agreement set to reach 72 hours at 12 pm today.

11th Thai soldier loses leg to landmine blast on border

Another Thai soldier was seriously injured yesterday when he stepped on an anti-personnel landmine, allegedly planted by Cambodian forces, as he was performing his duty in the Khao Santasom area of Kantharalak district in Thailand’s northeastern province of Si Sa Ket.

Army Spokesman Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvaree said the powerful blast blew the left leg off Sgt. Maj. Suchin Chitkreeyar, a member of the 8th engineering battalion of the 1st cavalry division. He also sustained injuries to his left eye. Continued …

Thai English Proficiency Slips Further Down Global Rankings

Demand shifts result in national oil plan rejig

The new national oil plan (NOP), which maps out long-term oil usage for the country, is expected to have several revisions as a result of projected shifts in global oil demand, the popularity of electric vehicles (EVs), and data centers, says the Department of Energy Business (DOEB).

“These changes exceed our earlier estimates,” said Sarawut Kaewtathip, chief of the DOEB, referring to ongoing work to draft a new plan. Heavy rain forecast for Prachuap Khiri Khan

Prachuap Khiri Khan is expected to see heavy rain today and tomorrow as national disaster officials warn of a period of unsettled weather affecting large parts of the south and the central region. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) said the province is among the areas most at risk of flash floods, runoff, and localised flooding during this period.
