Waghor Super Mini Marathon set for Nov 23

The Waghor Super Mini Marathon 2025 will take place on Sunday, Nov. 23, at King Mongkut’s Science Park at Waghor in Prachuap Khiri Khan. The event aims to promote local tourism while raising scholarship funds for three schools in the area: Ban Waghor School (Friendship 72), Ban Khlong Wan School, and Ban Nong Hin School.

Drinking After Hours in Pubs to Cost Up to 10,000 Baht Fine

From Nov. 8, patrons drinking in pubs after official closing hours will face fines of up to 10,000 Thai baht. Flood alert as Chao Phraya barrage discharge rate increases

Residents in low-lying areas downstream from Chai Nat have been warned of possible floods after the Royal Irrigation Department increased the discharge rate of the Chao Phraya barrage on the main river in Thailand’s Central Plains.

Insurgents Ambush Armored Vehicle in Narathiwat, Four Hurt

An armored vehicle carrying soldiers was ambushed with a bomb and follow-up gunfire in Su-ngai Padi district, Narathiwat, leaving four personnel injured. The attack targeted an RIVA armored vehicle from Ranger Company 4811 while it was on a route security patrol at Ban Bue Rang, Moo 3, To Deng subdistrict, yesterday morning. Some troops were trapped inside the vehicle before rescue workers managed to extract them.

Thai police use rubber bullets, tear gas against Cambodians on border

Thai crowd-control police yesterday used rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse a Cambodian crowd that approached and reportedly assaulted Thai security personnel on the border in Sa Kaeo’s Khok Sung district.

The new government led by Anutin Charnvirakul will proceed with the land bridge megaproject even though it is only expected to stay in office for four months, says incoming Deputy Prime Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn. Mr Phiphat made the comment yesterday at Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, where he and Anutin welcomed a large contingent of new members led by Chumpol Julsai, a former United Thai Nation MP for Chumphon.

Two more bodies have been recovered from the rubble of the collapsed 30-story building in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district, bringing the death toll to 51, a rescue official confirmed yesterday. As of yesterday morning, 43 individuals were still missing.

Stores urged to keep pork prices stable

The Department of Internal Trade (DIT) is encouraging retail and wholesale stores to keep pork prices stable, despite recent increases driven by a decline in supply.

Surat Thani School Stunned by Massive King Cobra

Residents of Don Sak, Surat Thani, were shocked to find a massive king cobra roaming outside Baan Nang Kam Community School yesterday. Local rescue teams who captured the snake without incident. Snapshots of the rescue effort showed the snake, locally known as a bong la, gliding across the road. Upon successful capture, the giant king cobra was safely released into a remote forest. Mae Hong Son was blanketed by unhealthy ultra-fine dust yesterday as wildfires continued to spread across the northern province, with 61 live hotspots detected.

A fire destroyed the debt-burdened Lanna-style Dhara Dhevi Hotel in Muang district early this morning. There were no casualties. Dozens of fire crews and engines responded. It took them three hours to control the blaze at the famous hotel in tambon Tha Sala.

The Board of Investment said that many foreign printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturers have been seeking special privileges for their investments worth 162 billion baht over the past year. BOI Secretary-general Narit Therdsteerasukdi said on Wednesday that most of these circuit board manufacturers were from China or Taiwan, and they have applied for BOI privileges in 95 projects.

Federal Express Corp., one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has advanced toward its vehicle electrification goals by introducing four new zero-tailpipe emissions electric vehicles (EVs) to its fleet in Thailand. The expansion builds on the success of its initial launch of EVs in 2022 as part of the company’s efforts to transition to an all-electric parcel pickup and delivery (PUD) fleet by 2040.
