Tak’s rising waters put dams at risk, residents urged to seek high ground

Severe rainfall in Tak province caused a mass influx of water into reservoirs, exceeding their storage capacity and raising concerns over potential dam breaches. The deputy governor has ordered immediate action to prevent further erosion and expansion due to Tak flooding, urging residents to quickly move their belongings to higher ground.

Ministry of Labor plans to raise the retirement age

The new Thai government is preparing to raise the retirement age in response to the country’s declining workforce, which is gradually becoming the dominant factor in the economy’s inability to grow at the same speed as other Southeast Asian economies.

Siam Piwat Group, one of Thailand’s leading real estate and retail developers, the owner and operator of global destinations including Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, ICONSIAM and Siam Premium Outlets Bangkok, aims to use 100% renewable energy at all properties under its management by 2030 in an attempt to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

The move is part of its efforts to solidify its leadership in sustainable world-class destination development and become Thailand’s first retail property developer to collaborate with the world’s premier brands and organizations on sustainability in pursuit of the United Nations’ sustainability goals. Thailand EV sales shatter forecasts

The Department of Land Transport’s electric vehicle (EV) sales forecast for Thailand is substantially higher in light of a much better than expected first-half performance, with EV sales totaling 49,319, exceeding the original full-year outlook.

Sales are now forecast to increase by 151% to reach 80,700 units, compared with a previous prediction of 20.7% growth. Continued …

China’s GWM to make 8 EV models locally

Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor (GWM) plans to start making eight electric vehicle (EV) models at its factory in Rayong in the first quarter of next year to serve soaring EV demand, which is expected to drive total EV sales in Thailand to 100,000 cars in 2024.

Srettha Thavisin, the prime minister and minister of finance, presided over the soft launch of Satellite 1 (SAT-1) yesterday. He praised the previous government of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra for the well-planned infrastructure, including the terminal, which has facilitated future expansions and enabled faster connectivity to SAT-1.

“The Thaksin Shinawatra government laid the foundation, and at that time the construction of the terminal was cost-effective. It had a far-reaching vision that has now resulted in significant budget savings. It is now in excellent condition and well suited for the time when we are opening the country to tourists and boosting the economy through tourism. Thai International Airways Plc. (THAI) is aiming to capture 40% of the Thai market after integrating its “Thai Smile” subsidiary. It also plans to expand its routes, particularly to popular destinations in Japan, and expects a surge in winter flights.

“We aim to be the preferred choice for a significant portion of the Thai population. Other national carriers currently serve around 40%-50% of their home country’s market. Hua Hin-Pattaya bus service twice a day

Hua Hin now has once-daily bus service to Pattaya, leaving Hua Hin at 9am and departing from Pattaya at 8am. Tickets are 473 THB.

Tickets can be bought in person at the Hua Hin bus station or online. Buses depart from the Hua Hin bus station and in front of Government Savings Bank, Cha Am.. Tickets
