Heavy rains forecast for mid-May

After enduring severe drought, residents of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province may finally see significant rainfall, as the dry season is expected to end soon. The Office of National Water Resources (ONWR) predicts at least three storms to hit the region by mid-May, potentially alleviating the current drought crisis. #huahindrought

Surasee Kittimonthon, ONWR secretary-general, announced at a recent meeting focused on the country’s water situation that the dry season should conclude by the end of April. Despite the current water levels standing at 45,099 million cubic meters, about 55% of the country’s reservoir capacity, the situation is slightly below last year’s figures by 2%. Delayed Start to Rainy Season Forecast

Thailand needs economic reform, not stimulus

Following the pandemic-induced economic crisis of 2020-21, the new Thai government has been focused on boosting the rate of economic growth. Thailand’s economic growth has fallen more than Southeast Asian neighbors Indonesia or Vietnam due to its high dependence on exports and the tourism sector.

VAT on imports sent via post starts in May

Songkran festival sees surge in road accidents across Thailand

Thailand is grappling with a surge in road accidents, with an alarming tally of 2,044 mishaps leading to 2,060 injuries and a tragic loss of 287 lives. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) released these figures as part of their Seven Days of Road Safety Campaign, which covered the Songkran festival period from April 11 to April 17.

To me, the most awe-inspiring moment is watching the sunrise at Hua Hin beach. As the first light of dawn slowly seeps into the sky, life comes to a standstill. The sun soon emerges from behind the horizon, casting its warm and vibrant glow over the beach. The fishing boats in the distance begin to set out for the day’s first catch, and the silhouettes of Monkey Mountain and the Buddha statue are bathed in golden hues. The ocean, playing its role in the spectacle, provides the perfect soundtrack with the gentle rhythm of waves kissing the sand. Continued …
