Thailand among countries facing historic heat in 2024

The El Nino phenomenon could cause temperatures in Thailand to soar to historic highs this year, well-respected marine ecologist Thon Thamrongnawasawat predicted on Friday.

At 12:30am yesterday, Khong Chiam police officers received a mass shooting report incident, resulting in four casualties and many injuries, at a northeastern-style concert in Khong Chiam, Ubon Ratchathani.

According to the police report, unidentified witnesses told the police that during the concert at a temple in Khong Chiam, Noppadon Thonglee, a 45-year-old Volunteer Defense Corps (VDC) guarding the event, broke up a group of audience members that annoyed the singers on the stage. Continued …

Krungthai COMPASS Research Center has identified the China-Laos high-speed railway as the cornerstone for transforming the northeast of Thailand into an economic juggernaut within the greater Mekong subregion.

The center disclosed that the China-Laos high-speed railway, now operational for both passenger and freight services along the Kunming-Vientiane route, will directly turbocharge trade and investment in Thailand’s northeastern region, seamlessly linked to this rail network. Thai draft ready for levying 15% global minimum tax on large multinationals

The Revenue Department will propose to the Cabinet a draft act within the first half of 2024 on imposing global minimum tax (GMT) at 15% on large multinational enterprises.

The department’s director-general, Kulaya Tantitemit, said on Friday that the draft has been prepared under the agreement with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), an intergovernmental organization of 38 countries, to promote transparency and fairness in tax collection.
