New bus service between Hua Hin, Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok

The new first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin will offer two round trips daily. The fare would be 200 baht each way and would take three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure will be from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

Cement Cargo Ship Damages Coral Reef at PKK’s Koh Talu

A cargo ship towing barges carrying cement collided with a coral reef near Koh Talu in Prachuap Khiri Khan, causing severe damage after rough seas led to the failure of its anchor chain.

On Sunday, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) received a report from local conservation networks that a cement cargo ship traveling from Bangkok to Pattani had run into difficulties due to strong winds and rough seas. In an attempt to seek shelter, the crew anchored near Koh Talu in Bang Saphan Noi district. New bus service between Hua Hin, Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok

The new first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin will offer two round trips daily. The fare would be 200 baht each way and would take three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure will be from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

  • The bus will leave Hua Hin at 7 am and 2 pm
  • It will depart from Don Mueang at 7:30 am and 4 pm

Thai nominee crackdown uncovers tourism, property chaos

Authorities have announced progress in a crackdown on foreigners using Thai nominees to illegally run businesses, focusing on tourism and real estate. Between September 2024 and January 2025, a multi-agency taskforce led by the Commerce Ministry prosecuted 820 illegal nominee businesses, with estimated damages totaling 12.5 billion baht, officials revealed on Monday.

The Council of State, Thailand’s primary legal advisory body, has dismissed a proposal from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) aimed at renegotiating contracts with renewable power firms to reduce electricity bills. Amid Climate Uncertainty, Floating Solar Builds Resilience

Southeast Asia is responsible for nearly a quarter of global energy demand growth through 2035, but it is currently heavily dependent on imported fossil fuels and hydropower. Given recent volatility in both fossil fuel prices and increasing severity and regularity of heatwaves and droughts, which make hydropower less reliable, diversification into domestically located renewable energy sources like solar will have energy security benefits.

A fishing ban has been issued to allow fish stock to recover off the coasts of Prachuap Khiri Khan down to Surat Thani, says the Department of Fishery (DoF). The ban is issued over two periods — from Feb. 15 to May 15 and from May 16 to June 14, affecting multiple maritime zones.

Fifty-seven out of 77 provinces in Thailand were blanketed with unsafe levels of ultrafine dust pollution this morning, according to the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA).

Thirteen provinces faced red levels (hazardous to health) of particulate matter 2.5 micrometers and less in diameter (PM2.5). Forty-four other provinces faced orange levels (starting to affect health) of PM2.5 ranging from 44.1 to 74.8µg/m³. They included Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Rayong and Samut Prakan. Continued …

The poll highlighted that a hefty 76.5% of respondents rated the government’s handling of the PM2.5 pollution as less than efficient. The PM 2.5 levels in Bangkok today remained at an unhealthy level, with all areas classified orange. According to the Bangkok Air Quality Information Center, as of 7am, the average PM 2.5 level in Bangkok stood at 47.2 µg/m³.

Two Malaysian Tourists Die in Motorbike Crash in PKK

Two Malaysian tourists lost their lives in a motorbike crash while traveling in heavy rain from Mae Hong Son to Malaysia. The incident occurred on Phetkasem Road in Bang Saphan Noi District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

Nationwide Face Mask Distribution Begins to Combat Air Pollution

Starting tomorrow, the Ministry of Public Health will begin distributing over 8 million face masks across the country to tackle harmful PM 2.5 dust pollution. Vulnerable groups, including the elderly and those in high-risk areas, known as orange and red zones, can collect masks from public hospitals and health offices. Each person is eligible to receive one mask per day for up to seven days.

The ministry emphasizes there is no mask shortage, with ample supplies of both surgical and N95 masks available. Citizens are advised to monitor air quality levels before heading outdoors and to wear a mask if pollution levels are high to safeguard their health. – aseannow.com

Forest burners in Korat arrested

The authorities have arrested five suspects who set fires to forested areas in the northeastern province of Korat and are searching for 10 more suspects to face prosecution.

Four Militants Killed in Yala Security Operation

Residents of 44 provinces enjoyed good to very good air quality this morning, while 12 of the 76 provinces had orange (starting to affect health) levels of PM2.5, according to the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA).

Swiss Dog Owner Defies PKK Beach Ban

A Swiss man has reignited controversy by defying a ban on walking his dogs at Suan Luang Beach, Bang Saphan district, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, despite previous attacks on tourists. The issue, which first drew widespread attention in August 2024, resurfaced after Mathias, the dog owner, was spotted on the beach on Jan. 20 with four unleashed dogs, two large and two small.

On Thursday, Thai and foreign tourists joined residents of Suan Luang Beach to lodge a formal complaint with the Pong Prasad Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO). They reported that Mathias, who had been ordered to remove his dogs from the area while legal proceedings were ongoing, has continued to disregard the ban, raising fears for public safety. Alarm sounds over hazardous air pollution

The government has announced urgent measures to combat the PM2.5 pollution crisis, including offering free bus and electric train rides and asking private companies to allow employees to work from home. The prime minister has instructed agencies to implement urgent, short-term measures to address it.

The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) has ordered Thap Lan National Park in Prachin Buri to stop the controlled burning of a 600-rai area in the park after facing heavy criticism for creating air pollution.
