Chatchai Market renovation plans revealed

Hua Hin officials have revealed more plans about the renovation of the iconic Chatchai Market. The decision to upgrade the market is aimed at enhancing the shopping experience and ensuring hygienic standards.

Under the new plan, Chatchai Market will feature a total of 44 stalls, each with dimensions of 2×2 meters, dedicated to the sale of food items, souvenirs, and local products. In addition to the commercial spaces, the renovation will introduce separate male and female restrooms, dish washing zones, dining areas, and an updated electrical system complete with CCTV surveillance. Thai organizations face 800 more weekly cyber attacks than global average

Check Point Software Technologies, a leading provider of cybersecurity solutions globally, has revealed that Thai organizations have been subject to 1,892 cyber attacks per week over the last half year — an alarmingly high valuation compared to the global average of 1,040, per Check Point’s latest Threat Intelligence Report.

Phuket police investigators are questioning four Russian suspects involving in the kidnapping case of a Russian couple, demanding crypto currency worth some 30 million baht as ransom.

A projected drop of 14.4% in Thailand’s rice exports is anticipated for this year, due to a combination of reduced production and increased global competition, as reported by the Foreign Trade Department. Suvarnabhumi expects 2.3-million tourists for Chinese New Year

Kittipong Kittikachorn, the Suvarnabhumi director of the Airports of Thailand (AoT), has estimated an increasing number of tourists during the Chinese New Year Festival between Feb. 4-16 would reach 2,366,940.

A high-pressure system or moderate cold air mass continues to cover Thailand and the South China Sea, leading to cooler morning temperatures across several regions of the country. The Thailand Meteorological Department (TMD) forecast that the north, northeast, central, eastern, and upper southern parts will experience cold weather in the mornings.

Most Thais believe country in economic crisis that needs urgent attention

A great majority of Thais believe the economy is in a crisis and needs urgent attention, according to a survey by Nida Poll, an institution under the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA). The survey focused on public opinion about the economy and the government’s digital wallet scheme.

The survey showed that 63.5% of respondents think the economic crisis needs immediate attention, 20.2% believe it requires attention, but not urgently, 10.1% feel they are facing a crisis, but not immediately, 5.7% do not see any economic crisis, and 0.6% either do not know, did not answer, or were not interested. Thanawat “Shane” Promwen, 8 years old, started his adventure across the Gulf of Thailand this morning, embarking on a journey of 110 kilometers (70 miles) from Pattaya to Pak Nam Pran, in the Hua Hin area, setting the record for being the youngest child ever to achieve this goal. by crossing with kite foil.

Shane has been making waves in the kite and wing foilling world since the age of 3, and his latest adventure marks a big step forward. In preparation for international competition in 2024. Split-second decision saved mother’s life at Suphan Buri fireworks plant

500kg of explosives in storage at factory

Authorities estimate that the fireworks factory in Suphan Buri may have had at least 500 kilograms of explosive materials stored in its compound before the blast on Wednesday afternoon.

Thailand has suspended poultry imports from Belgium and three provinces of France in a bid to prevent the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). The announcement by the Department of Livestock Development, published in the Royal Gazette on Thursday, will be in effect for nine days.

Experts urge policy rethink as elephant population boom sparks escalating conflicts

Last year was a bloody 12 months in the ongoing saga of human-elephant conflicts in Thailand, marking the sixth consecutive year of escalating incidents. Records for 2023 show a disconcerting surge in encounters and casualties due to wild elephants across the country.

According to the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP), more than 13,000 incidents of wild elephant intrusion outside protected forest areas were reported during the 2023 fiscal year. Question: When you look beyond traditional mainstream markets like Bangkok, Phuket and Bali, where do you see exciting things happening in real estate?

Bangkok and its vicinity were shrouded in a thick haze this morning, as the amount of PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere has exceeded the standard threshold in 79 areas of the capital and 11 areas in surrounding provinces. (Hua Hin areas were in the “orange” level this morning.)

Pot industry pushes back against draft law

The cannabis industry is pushing back at Pheu Thai’s efforts to again criminalize the drug for recreational purposes. This week, Minister of Public Health Dr. Cholnan Srikaew was forced to clarify that a hard line draft bill signed by him was not final. The minister said it was a draft position prepared by his industry for the prime minister’s office.

However, the final law to be presented to parliament would, first of all, be agreed by the cabinet. The Excise Department is considering whether a single tax rate or weight-based levy should be applied for cigarettes, says Director-general Ekniti Nitithanprapas.

Concert and music performance are the most popular Children’s Day activities, while top music artists are the individuals Thai youths are most interested to meet in person, according to a poll jointly conducted by the Ministry of Culture and Suan Dusit Poll. In Thailand, Children’s Day is observed on the second Saturday of January, which falls on Jan. 13 this year.
