Hyatt’s The Barai Hua Hin to debut in 2026

Hyatt Hotels Corp. has announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into management agreements with Chai Talay Hotel Co. for The Barai Hua Hin. This hotel will mark the debut of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in Thailand. It will join Hyatt’s growing portfolio in Thailand of 15 properties across seven brands.

The Barai Hua Hin is slated to open in late 2026, adjacent to the beachfront Hyatt Regency Hua Hin. It will feature a destination spa with 18 treatment rooms and eight residential spa suites. Heavy rain forecast for much of Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department has forecast increased rainfall for today, with widespread showers and isolated heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, particularly in the east and along the western coast of the south.

Bus service between Hua Hin, Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok

The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.(We recommend checking with the bus company about this schedule, as it changes without notice.)

Starting May 1, the Don Mueang-Hua Hin route will offer two round trips per day. The two outbound trips from Don Mueang Airport will depart at 8 am and 3 pm. The bus will stop at eight locations, including the Service Hall at Don Mueang, Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal in Bangkok, Mahachai, Phetchaburi Big C, Phetchaburi Bus Station, Cha Am PTT Petrol Station, Bluport Hua Hin Resort Mall, and the Hua Hin Bus Station.

Hua Hin, Thailand’s other holiday resort areas unaffected by border crisis

Although several governments have issued travel warnings, none has advised against visiting Thailand and Cambodia. The British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office simply warns travelers not to go within 50 kilometers of the border in the at-risk provinces.

The most popular destinations – Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin – are hundreds of miles from the scene of any shootings or panic. Cambodia’s main attractions in Phnom Penh and the famous archaeological site at Siem Reap are similarly free from border-related violence. Continued …

148 economic projects allotted Bt87.3 billion

Chalermchai emphasized the importance of inclusive participation in managing mangrove ecosystems. He said that the ministry has been actively promoting mangrove restoration through community-led initiatives spearheaded by the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) and various network partners. Section of Soi 94 closed to Saturday for repair work

Road resurfacing work has resumed on Soi 94 after months of delays, with a section of the road temporarily closed to traffic until July 12, Hua Hin City has announced.

The closure affects the stretch between the junction in front of the 7-Eleven and the junction at Soi Charoen Pattana 2, near Craft, Scruffy’s, and Pizza Garden. The road will be closed daily from 9am to 4pm through to Friday to allow for the installation of drainage pipes, which form part of the ongoing reinforced concrete resurfacing project. Continued …

Easy Airline to Launch Flights Linking Hua Hin, Surat Thani, Phuket & Hat Yai

Easy Airline is set to expand its aviation operations with a new regional service connecting Hua Hin to key southern destinations: Surat Thani, Phuket and Hat Yai. Yesterday at approximately 8 p.m., a tour bus lost control and skidded off the road near a sharp curve on Phetkasem Road (southbound) at kilometer 151-560, in the Huasaphan area, Phetchaburi Province. Fortunately, all 28 passengers and two crew members managed to exit the vehicle safely. Nine people sustained minor injuries.

Arsenic contamination in Chiang Mai children linked to river fish

An alarming discovery was made in Mae Ai district, Chiang Mai province, where arsenic levels in two young children were found to exceed normal standards. This was believed to be linked to fish consumption from the Kok River, which flows from Shan State, Myanmar, into Thailand.

The Chiang Mai Provincial Public Health Office conducted tests Monday on four residents from Kaeng Sai Mun village, Mae Ai district, with urine samples collected on May 19. Many expats agree the low cost is a major plus, often outweighing some of the less pleasant realities, like limited routes and occasional delays. ‘Moderately Serious’ Arsenic Levels Found in Kok River

Four out of five samples of water taken from Kok River in Thailand, which is a tributary of Mekong River, showed arsenic levels higher than the standard limit of 0.01 milligram per liter, according to a recent water-quality assessment by the Mekong River Commission (MRC), classifying it as “moderately serious”.

Eight Confirmed Dead, Two Still Missing After Inferno at Tissue Factory

Eight workers have been confirmed dead and two others remain unaccounted for following a major fire that tore through a tissue paper factory in Nong Khae district, Saraburi.

The blaze rapidly consumed large parts of the building due to the highly flammable materials inside. According to initial reports, 10 employees were trapped inside the office area on the second and third floors when the fire erupted. Bangkok building collapse tied to construction and design flaws

Thai investigators concluded that flaws in the design and construction methods caused the collapse of a partially built Bangkok building that killed at least 89 people during the March 28 earthquake, according to Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

An investigation by a government agency and three universities found that the elevator and stairwell walls — key structures meant to absorb shear force — were improperly designed and built. Snakes on a plane, again: India foils third Thailand wildlife smuggling attempt this month

Indian customs officers in Mumbai said they have stopped a plane passenger arriving from Thailand with a wriggling cargo of live snakes, the third such seizure this month. The passenger, who arrived on Sunday, has been arrested, the customs agency said, with “further investigation underway”.

The live snakes included reptiles often sold in the pet trade, and were largely non-venomous, or with venom too weak to affect people. In early June, customs officers stopped a passenger smuggling dozens of venomous vipers, also arriving from Thailand. Road work on Soi 94 still in turmoil

Hua Hin City has held an urgent meeting in a bid to speed up the delayed construction of Soi 94, a key road project that has caused months of disruption for local residents and businesses.

The meeting was called to address ongoing delays in the project, which involves resurfacing a 500-meter stretch of Soi 94 with reinforced concrete and installing an upgraded drainage system. The project, which began on July 22, 2024, was initially due for completion in February 2025 but was halted after underground utility issues and soil subsidence required a full revision of the construction plans. Oramon Sapthaweetham, director-general of the Department of Business Development , reported that foreign investment in Thailand saw a significant increase during the first five months of 2025 (January–May), with 426 foreign entities approved to operate businesses under the Foreign Business Act 1999.

Gulf Development, Thailand’s largest energy company by market value and a telecom operator, has achieved its target to increase its renewable power proportion to 40% of total electricity generation capacity following a recent investment in solar farms. Local golf pro Prayad Marksaeng clinched the championship title at the Toyota Senior Championship/Zenn Cup 2025, the third stop on the 2025 Thai Senior Tour. Prayad, 59, finished with a 14-under-par total of 202, earning him the winner’s cheque of 120,000 Thai baht.

Thailand’s Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a warning for 57 provinces to prepare for heavy rainfall over the weekend. The northeastern and northern regions, as well as Bangkok and surrounding areas, are expected to experience significant rainfall, covering 60%-80% of these areas.

Thailand’s BOI Approves $870 Million in New Investment Projects

The Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) has approved investment applications worth a total of 28.6 billion baht (US$870 million) in digital infrastructure and travel sector projects, as well as improved incentives for the use of local content in the manufacturing of electric vehicles (EV) and hybrids, as well as electrical appliances (E&E).

The largest project approved is Stratus Technology Co.’s plan to invest 23.7 billion baht to build a Tier 3 data center with an IT load of approximately 203 megawatts (MW). Re: Hua Hin beachfront demolition

“Sad about the end of the seafood piers, one of the charming, iconic features of Hua Hin. Presumably, there will be a Pattaya-style promenade, marina instead?” – AJB

Editor: A “promenade” is in the plans. However, legal action by the affected businesses is a possibility, delaying any demolition and possible “improvements” perhaps by years.

Red Cross and Hua Hin District Fair starts today

The 27th annual Red Cross and Hua Hin District Fair will take place from June 27 to July 6. The fair, organized by Hua Hin District in partnership with the Hua Hin District Branch of the Thai Red Cross Society, will be held at the activity area behind Bluport Hua Hin Resort Mall on Hua Hin Soi 102.

Thai regulator prepares for possible gas price spike

The tentative ceasefire between Israel and Iran is giving Thai energy regulators more time to brace for liquefied natural gas (LNG) price fluctuations, which often lead to higher electricity bills, says an energy official who requested anonymity.

Officials are searching for two more bombs, which the suspects claimed to have hidden on Surin Beach in Phuket. All six criminals involved in the bomb plot were arrested.

Officers from Mueang Phang Nga Police Station apprehended two suspects, 29 year old Muhama Wadeng and 27 year old Sulaiman Gaza, in the southern province of Phang Nga at 3.30 am Tuesday. Patong Beach gets bomb squad and sniffer dogs for tourist safety

Phuket officials are ramping up security in one of Thailand’s most popular tourist destinations after a safety inspection at Patong Beach, aimed at reassuring tourists and locals. On Wednesday, a bomb scare was averted thanks to the swift action of local police, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units, and specially trained sniffer dogs.

A wave of coordinated attacks shook Pattani Province Wednesday night, as a group of at least 10 armed men stormed and set fire to the Plen Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO)building in Sai Buri District, destroying four vehicles and leaving behind what appeared to be explosive devices at multiple sites across two districts.

The incident prompted police, firefighters, and emergency response teams to rush to the scene. By the time they arrived, flames were already engulfing the lower floor of the two-story SAO building and had spread to four parked vehicles, a fire truck, a rubbish collection truck, and two pickup trucks, all of which were destroyed despite over an hour of intensive firefighting. Suspected Explosive Device Found Outside Phang Nga Governor’s Residence

Authorities in Phang Nga were placed on high alert after a suspected explosive device was discovered yesterday near the perimeter fence of the provincial governor’s residence. Initial reports indicate that the device, disguised to resemble a rock, contained an operational explosive mechanism with a possible blast radius of up to 10 meters.

Local police, in cooperation with administrative officers and volunteer defense corps (Or Sor), swiftly secured the area. Security has been tightened in national parks in Thailand’s southern border provinces and nearby areas after three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were discovered — two at Noppharat Thara Beach and one at a hardwood sculpture in Krabi town.     The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

Hua Hin beachside structures face final demolition deadline

Authorities have set a final deadline ofJuly 7 for the demolition of more than 30 beachside buildings in Hua Hin that have been deemed illegal due to encroachment on public coastal land.

The buildings in question include homes, guesthouses, and seafood restaurants, many of which have become familiar fixtures in the area over several decades. They are located along Naresdamri Road, stretching from the Fishing Pier to the Chaomae Tubtim Shrine, a section of Hua Hin’s beachfront long associated with local business and tourism. Continued …

Designated smoking areas set up on Hua Hin Beach

Officials have reinforced the smoking ban on Hua Hin Beach by installing and refurbishing signs at 10 designated smoking areas, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain public health and cleanliness along the shoreline.

Yesterday, the Office of Marine and Coastal Resources 3 (Phetchaburi), working through its Marine Resources Conservation Division, collaborated with the Marine Protection Volunteer Network and the Hua Hin Fisheries Assn. to carry out on-site work along Hua Hin Beach. Ongoing road improvement works in the Takiab area

Local officials have carried out an on-site inspection of ongoing road-improvement works in the Takiab area, as part of efforts to upgrade road conditions and improve safety for motorists. The project involves applying an asphalt concrete overlay to the Nong Kae–Takiab Road. The resurfacing is scheduled to take place between June 24 and July 3.

Hua Hin installs high-capacity water pumps to help prevent flooding

Hua Hin has begun operating two high-capacity water pumps to reduce the risk of flooding during the rainy season. The pumps, provided by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (Region 4), are diesel-powered and capable of discharging 31,500 liters of water per minute. They have been installed at two key locations — at the end of the Khlong Takiab canal and near the Huana Reservoir.

According to municipal officials, the pumps are intended to speed up the drainage of water from canals in higher-lying areas, allowing excess rainwater to be channeled into designated catchment zones before being released into the sea. Continued …

A Hua Hin street artist has once again been ordered to remove graffiti from public areas, after city officials received new complaints about unauthorized artwork appearing across the city.

Road safety shock: Pedestrian deaths on the rise

A new report on deaths among footpath users is shocking and unacceptable. On Monday, the Department of Disease Control released its safety report, saying 5,066 pedestrians were killed in accidents from 2015 to 2024, or 506 deaths annually.

    • Bus service between Hua Hin, Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok

    The first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin offers two round trips daily. The fare is 200 baht each way and takes three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure is from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

    Starting May 1, the Don Mueang-Hua Hin route will offer two round trips per day. The two outbound trips from Don Mueang Airport will depart at 8 am and 3 pm. The bus will stop at eight locations, including the Service Hall at Don Mueang, Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal in Bangkok, Mahachai, Phetchaburi Big C, Phetchaburi Bus Station, Cha Am PTT Petrol Station, Bluport Hua Hin Resort Mall, and the Hua Hin Bus Station.
