The new first-class bus service between Don Mueang Airport and Hua Hin will offer two round trips daily. The fare would be 200 baht each way and would take three-and-a-half hours. The Hua Hin departure will be from the current Transport Co. terminal just north of Hua Hin Airport.

Southern Thailand Security Overhaul Following Deadly Ramadan Attacks

In response to Saturday night’s deadly attacks in Thailand’s southern border provinces, security forces have implemented revised safety protocols across the region. The twin attacks in Sungai Kolok district, Narathiwat province, and Sai Buri district, Pattani province, claimed the lives of five security personnel and volunteers, while injuring 13 others.

Lt. Gen. Yala: Security Officer Killed in Ambush

A violent attack occurred in the early hours yesterday, when a group of assailants ambushed and shot dead a local security officer in the district of Krong Pinang, Yala. The assailants targeted the officer as he arrived at his residence in the village of Kadudoh at 2am.

Government ‘committed’ to national minimum wage hike

Thailand’s economy is expected to grow 3.4% in the first quarter of 2025 from a year earlier, which would be the fastest pace in 10 quarters, helped by government stimulus measures, a deputy finance minister said today.

Measures being advanced to restructure nine target industries

Industry restructuring is a key engine for driving the country’s economy, particularly in boosting the national GDP. For this reason, the Office of Industrial Economics (OIE) is advancing measures to restructure nine target industries as part of the policy “Industrial Reform for a Modern, Clean, Convenient, and Transparent Economy”, aiming to increase gross domestic product by at least 1%.

The plan is expected to be presented to the Cabinet this month. Hazardous air pollution in 57 of 77 Thai provinces

Fifty-seven out of 77 provinces in Thailand were blanketed with unsafe levels of ultrafine dust pollution this morning, according to the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA).

Thirteen provinces faced red levels (hazardous to health) of particulate matter 2.5 micrometers and less in diameter (PM2.5). Forty-four other provinces faced orange levels (starting to affect health) of PM2.5 ranging from 44.1 to 74.8µg/m³. They included Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Rayong and Samut Prakan. Continued …

The government’s latest efforts to cope with PM2.5 are based on concerns over its harmful impact and a hope for cleaner air, a recurring problem at the beginning of calendar years.

Thailand’s Health Department is pushing to expand dust-proof dining, aiming for 20,000 restaurants with dust-free rooms nationwide within three months. The initiative follows rising PM2.5 pollution and efforts to improve air quality in public spaces.

Dr. Thiti Sawaengtham, deputy director-general of the department, said that, currently, 234 restaurants in nine provinces have dust-proof rooms. The department aims to increase this number to provide more options for patrons with health concerns. Continued … 

Bangkokians Dub State Efforts to Combat PM2.5 as Ineffective

In a recent survey conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), a significant portion of Bangkok’s residents expressed dissatisfaction with the efforts of state agencies in managing the capital’s persistent PM2.5 pollution crisis. This pressing environmental issue has seen growing public concern over government actions and their efficacy.

The poll highlighted that a hefty 76.5% of respondents rated the government’s handling of the PM2.5 pollution as less than efficient. Specifically, 41.2% found the efforts to be somewhat inefficient, while 35.3% considered them completely inefficient. PM 2.5 levels in Bangkok continue to impact residents’ health

The PM 2.5 levels in Bangkok today remained at an unhealthy level, with all areas classified orange. According to the Bangkok Air Quality Information Center, as of 7am, the average PM 2.5 level in Bangkok stood at 47.2 µg/m³.

The Commerce Ministry plans to seek cabinet endorsement to ban the import of maize from fields that are burned following the harvest, according to a government spokesman.

The stadium is located on a 371-rai site in Bang Lamung district. It began with an investment budget of 774 million baht in 2008, and was originally scheduled to be completed in 2017. Canada, China, and Mexico yesterday unveiled tariff countermeasures against the U.S., after U.S. President Donald Trump declared he was putting up tariffs against these countries.

On the day of his inauguration, Trump signed a fusillade of orders – among them new tariffs, imposing a 25% levy on imports from Canada and Mexico, and a 10% tariff on Chinese goods. 54% tariff on wine imports eliminated ‘indefinitely’

Thailand is cutting alcohol taxes and tariffs in a bid to lower the cost of a night out and attract more tourists. A 54% tariff on wine imports will be “exempted indefinitely”, according to local media accounts of a Thai cabinet meeting, while excise duties on locally produced wine will be cut to 10% or below.

The measure is designed not only to expand the budding domestic industry, but also to add to supplies of less-expensive alcohol. The government had in recent years increased tariffs on wine in a bid to raise revenues. State revenue grows 2.1% in first months of fiscal year

The Revenue Department reported its revenue collection in the first two months of fiscal 2025 grew 2.1% year-on-year, attributed to efforts to bring individuals outside the tax system into compliance and stricter enforcement of tax evasion measures.

According to Director-general Pinsai Suraswadi, the department’s revenue collection in October tallied 146 billion baht, up 4.93 billion baht, or 3.5% year-on-year. The amount surpassed the target by 2.33 billion baht, or 1.6%. Continued …

The Commerce Ministry has set an export growth target of 2%-3% for 2025, while export growth this year is expected to reach 5% thanks to the electronics, agricultural product and food sectors.

Industrial sentiment advances in November

The Thai Industries Sentiment Index (TISI) rose to 91.1 points in November based on higher goods purchase orders, driven by year-end celebrations and countries bracing for the new U.S. trade policy, says the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

Toyota Motor Corp. Chairman Akio Toyoda has pledged to invest 55 billion baht in Thailand to expand production of hybrid cars, according to the government.

EGCO Acquires 11 Solar Projects

Electricity Generating Public Co. has been selected as one of the applicants for additional electricity production under the regulations of the Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), regarding the procurement of electricity from renewable energy in the form of Feed-in Tariff (FiT) for 2022–2030.
