ERC mulls 31% electricity tariff hike despite lower fuel costs

Businesses and households are facing a significant decision regarding the future of their electricity costs as the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) considers changes to the power tariff. Despite a projected decrease in fuel costs, the ERC is evaluating whether to maintain the current rate or implement an increase of 26% to 31% early next year.

The existing tariff, set at 4.18 baht per kilowatt-hour, is in effect until Dec. 31. A public opinion survey is currently being conducted online by the ERC, with the results influencing the new rate to be announced for January to April 2025. Continued …

Photo exhibit at Bluport celebrates HM King’s 72nd birthday

The Contemporary Photography Foundation of Thailand (CPFT) and Proud Group are hosting a photography exhibition to celebrate His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s sixth cycle (72nd) birthday anniversary on July 28 in three locations in Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces from now until Dec. 31.

British Man Makes Annual Thailand Trip to Maintain Wife’s Memorial

A British former naval officer who found love with a Thai woman and lived together for nearly 10 years, continues to visit after her death from cancer. He flies in annually to clean and change flowers at the stupa containing his wife’s ashes in Ban Dung, Udon Thani.

Andrew Richardson, 63, from York, England, said he traveled from England to visit his wife whom he hasn’t forgotten even after her passing. He comes to clean the stupa containing her ashes and change the flowers, something he has done consistently for four years. Continued …

Demand for more raw water to serve business growth in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), particularly data centers and cloud services, has prompted a new study on joint water management from two suppliers, says industrial estate developer Amata Corp.
