S.Ken’s Bistro also has an edible flower and herb farm

Chef Ken at S.Ken’s Bistro in Kao Tao is known for his use of flowers in his cuisine. Now the chef is growing his own edible flowers, both for his restaurant and for other dining establishments.

His Chivit Chiva farm exclusively harvests flowers, leaves, and herbs from these gardens, where harmful chemicals are not used, with only natural compost and fertilizers.

Assorted edible flowers are now available for Bt65 per 25-gram box, Bbt95 for a 45-gram box, and Bt125 for a 55-gram box.

Rail tunnel in Saraburi closed within hours of opening

The State Railway of Thailand ( SRT ) stopped services through Phasadet tunnel, the longest railway tunnel in Thailand at 5.2km, yesterday within hours of its opening. The decision was taken after videos of dust blowing into carriages were posted online.

Repairs are expected to take two weeks and the tunnel is provisionally scheduled to reopen on Aug. 12. Images and a video posted by a foreign Facebook user showed strong wind blowing dust into the train and the post also mentioned a strong smell of diesel. Continued …

A claim that Thais read no more than eight paragraphs of books annually has been proved false, as they actually read for at least two hours a day, experts in the publishing industry said on Sunday.

A giant python measuring 4 meters in length caused quite a stir in Udon Thani by sneaking into a chicken coop in the middle of the night and devouring three prized fighting cocks.

Data centers, cloud service investments get backing

The government fully supports investments in data centers and cloud service projects in Thailand so it can become a digital economy hub, says government spokesman Chai Wacharonke.

Why More Thais Are Becoming Anxious About the Rise of China

What a xenophobic, or more accurately a “sinophobic”, week for Thailand, particularly Thai netizens. First, was the loud cries of condemnation against a large billboard solely in Chinese language found in the heart of Bangkok’s Huai Kwang district offering potential Chinese customers to purchase passports and nationalities from four countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Turkey, and Vanuatu.

PM Srettha Thavisin felt compelled to visit the site in person and the billboard was quickly removed to ease the anger of Thai netizens. Two Chinese behind the ads quickly left Thailand, one slapped with a fine for 5,000 baht, and both told they are no longer welcomed in Thailand. Continued …

Instant coffee market set for 5% growth

Thailand’s instant coffee market is expected to grow by 5% this year as Nescafé Thailand plans to allocate 620 million baht for brand communication advertising.

Jojo Dela Cruz, business executive officer of Nestlé (Thai) Ltd.’s coffee and creamer business unit, said that in this year’s first quarter the value of the country’s instant coffee market was 5.7 billion baht, up 5% when compared with the corresponding period last year, while the value of the ready-to-drink coffee market reached 3.8 billion baht, up 10% from the corresponding period last year. 20 million tourists in seven months

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin announced that from Jan. 1 to July 25, more than 20 million international visitors arrived in Thailand, reflecting a 34% increase from last year.

Tourism from Taiwan and India reached unprecedented levels, largely credited to the visa-free scheme. This initiative allows visitors from 93 countries to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa. SRT offers special tourism train for rainy season

People were being invited to experience romantic vibes in the rainy season on a special Kiha 183 tourism train, which will make 16 trips on seven routes in August and September. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) said on Sunday that Kiha 183 trips include both one-day and overnight trips during weekends.

Tigers are disappearing from Southeast Asia. A forest in Thailand is offering new hope

As Global Tiger Day rolls around, there’s good news for the big cats in Thailand. The tiger population in the country’s Western Forest Complex (WEFCOM) — an 18,000-square-kilometer (6,950-square-mile) area of forest encompassing 11 national parks and six wildlife sanctuaries — is estimated to have more than tripled between 2007 and 2023, from 41 to 143.

The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment has announced plans to build three elephant training centers in the eastern provinces to tame aggressive wild elephants in the region.

Police Gen. Phatcharavat Wongsuwan has ordered the Department of National Parks Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) to establish three “Wild Elephant Behavior Modification Centers”.
