The Beach at Anantasila Bar and Restaurant was transformed into a German haven on Friday as hundreds flocked to celebrate Oktoberfest. The staff dressed in traditional Dirndl & Lederhosen, while Pierro Dietrich, the Bavarian-born executive chef, crafted a Bavarian feast, including authentic German sauerkraut, sourdough bread, and pretzels, along with traditional German pork sausages, beef sauerbraten, and Viennese-style pork schnitzel. Thailand’s art scene continues to grow, and one of the newest faces to watch for is Anna Chekh, a contemporary multimedia artist from Ukraine who left behind a promising career in advertising to become a full-time artist based in Hua Hin.

When I meet with Ukrainian-born artist Anna Chekh at Chim Chim, the Siam@Siam Design Hotel’s art-focused lobby-level restaurant, she’s wearing black jeans, a black crop top, and a colorful mangosteen-patterned blouse top, which I immediately recognize from the recently released Jim Thompson x Goh-M collection. The Thai Meteorological Department has forecast continuous thundershowers over the country on Monday, with isolated heavy to very heavy rain affecting the north and the northeast regions.

12 Thai people killed, 8 injured, and 11 detained in Israel fighting

Thailand ’s Center of an Emergency Situation in Israel reported that 12 Thai nationals were killed , eight injured and 11 detained in the Israeli fighting . A Thai resident in Israel shared that he and nearly 100 fellow Thais managed to survive without any assistance from officials.

Deputy Foreign Minister Jakkapong Saengmanee stated that Thailand maintains a neutral stance in this conflict, advocating for both countries involved to work toward a peaceful two-state solution. Thai living in Israel claims many want to return to Thailand due to the danger

A Thai national working in the Gaza Strip said yesterday that there are 36 of them sheltering in a bunker at their work place, living on instant noodles and water from the bathroom, as the water main has been damaged.

Udomporn Jampahom said that one of them, Chatri Chasri, a native of Nakhon Phanom province, was shot in the leg, while others, including himself, fell flat on the floor when gunfire broke out following rocket bombardment. Continued …

2,700 cases and 31 deaths reported in leptospirosis outbreak amid heavy rains

Leptospirosis, commonly known as rat fever, is spreading, with 2,700 reported cases and 31 deaths, particularly in the northeastern and southern regions, a stage agency said on Sunday.

The disease is transmitted from animals to humans, especially in wet or flooded areas. The leptospira bacteria, which causes the disease, are found in the urine of rats and other rodents. Pets like dogs, cats, cows, sheep, and goats can also carry the bacteria. Continued …

Former Thai Ambassador to Denmark murdered

Former ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Denmark H.E. Vichit Chitvimarn was on Saturday found murdered in a villa he had owned for a while but just recently moved into on Viphavadee Road in Bangkok.

Chitvimarn was found in the bathroom by workers who were asked to do some renovation. His body was covered with empty moving boxes from his recent move less than a month ago to the villa. Continued …

Stricter Gun Control Measures Announced by Thailand’s Interior Ministry

Thailand’s Interior Ministry has unveiled four enhanced measures to tighten control over firearms, responding to the country’s alarming gun possession statistics.

A survivor of the recent shooting at the Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok recounted her terrifying encounter with the 14-year-old gunman. Anyapat Thipjirasakul, while fleeing the scene, came face to face with the teen gunman on an escalator.

A recent opinion survey by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) learned that most Thais lack confidence in the police force’s integrity and performance.

Police will still ticket motorists despite ruling

Motorists will continue to be ticketed despite the Central Administrative Court (CAC) deciding police have issued traffic tickets unlawfully since July 2020.

Mongolia opens honorary consulate in Phuket

Phuket marked a significant milestone as Mongolia inaugurated its honorary consulate on the island, coinciding with the 49th anniversary of its diplomatic ties with Thailand last week. The consulate’s office is located at the Gig Hotel on Soi Bangla in the Patong district.

PTT Exploration and Production Plc (PTTEP) is investing over 14 billion baht to capture carbon in the Gulf of Thailand, aiming to reduce global warming.

The company revealed its intention to establish clear mechanisms for carbon credits, or carbon taxes, as well as regulations for tracking and verifying the stored carbon. Tourism fee fund to be fast-tracked after payouts to families in the Siam Paragon mass shooting

The Tourism Ministry and the Siam Paragon Shopping Center came forward last week to compensate the families of the two women murdered during Tuesday’s mass shooting in Bangkok after the government admitted that the Tourism Assistance Fund to compensate tourists involved in emergencies in Thailand had recently been canceled by officials in an efficiency drive.

Tourism Minister Sudawan Wang-Suphakitkosol promised to fast-track the introduction of the long-awaited foreign tourism entry fee, which the ministry now proposes will be paid by travelers on arrival at entry points to the kingdom, providing emergency medical health insurance cover and other benefits for 30 days from the point of entry. Hua Hin-Pattaya bus service twice a day

Hua Hin now has once-daily bus service to Pattaya, leaving Hua Hin at 9am and departing from Pattaya at 8am. Tickets are 473 THB.

Tickets can be bought in person at the Hua Hin bus station or online. Buses depart from the Hua Hin bus station and in front of Government Savings Bank, Cha Am.. Tickets
