Electricity price to drop sharply from September

The Energy Ministry expects to cut the fuel tariff (Ft) in September, leading to a significant drop in the price of electricity.

Consumers can expect a reduction of 40-50 satang per unit for the September-December electricity billing cycle, Energy Ministry Permanent Secretary Kulit Sombatsiri said on Wednesday. The Ft rate currently stands at 4.70 baht per unit. The planned reduction was made possible by the easing of global prices of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG), he explained. Continued …

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) confirmed yesterday that electricity production and supply is sufficient in Thailand, after Vietnam launched nationwide rolling power cuts.

The Thai Meteorological Department warned of thunderstorms and strong winds in 50 provinces, including Bangkok, as weather conditions change due to low-pressure systems. From May 27-30, rainfall is expected to increase, and it could be heavy in some areas. Boats have been advised to exercise caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is influenced by the southwesterly winds covering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, along with a low-pressure area covering northern Vietnam and the Tonkin Gulf.
