PM Srettha asks to meet Biden during his US trip for UN General Assembly
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on Thursday expressed his wish to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden during his upcoming trip to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
Srettha also said that he hoped to welcome President Biden on the American leader’s future trip to Thailand, which he expected to take place soon. The Thai PM is scheduled to attend the 78th session of the UN General Assembly to be held at the UN headquarters from Sept. 18-26. Continued …
New minister rules out closure of Facebook
The new Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Prasert Chantararuangthong, has backed off from his predecessor’s threat to end Facebook services in Thailand due to its repeated failures to deal with fraudulent ads.
Prasert said on Thursday that he would instead seek a meeting with Facebook executives to discuss Thailand’s concerns on the matter. He explained that there were as many as 45 million Facebook accounts in Thailand and most Thai users benefit from decent use of the social media platform. Continued …
Kalasin’s disaster team saves tree-clinging locals in NE Thailand
Kalasin’s Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office swiftly came to the aid of locals trapped by flash floods, stuck to trees for up to 14 hours in northeastern Thailand.

Government plans 2-baht tax cut to fuel price drop below 30 baht per liter
The Excise Department is preparing a proposal to reduce diesel tax by 2 baht per liter and aiming to lower the retail price of diesel to less than 30 baht per liter, according to the newly formed government.
The proposal is in the pipeline following Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s announcement to slash the retail price of diesel to 30 baht per liter from the current cap of 32 baht per liter. EGAT aims to boost renewable energy to 30% by 2027

Electric vehicle producers upbeat on investment
More electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers are expected to invest in Thailand, although the latest EV incentive package is believed to be less attractive than its predecessor, says the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT).

Plans for expansion of Loei Airport drawn up

Just a bit confused regards diesel price caps. If the current cap is 32 baht per litre, how is it that I’m seeing it more than that at every filling station I pass? Surely this is illegal if the government has mandated 32 baht?
