Long boat racing returns to Kao Tao Nov 17-19

Khao Tao Reservoir will host the 16th edition of “Long Boat Racing for River Masters” between Nov. 17-19. Participants from all over Thailand are expected to compete across four boat categories.

The event will feature traditional Lao vessels, ancient long boats, Naga head long boats from Nan province, and iron long boats from Buriram.

This competition is organized by Hua Hin municipality, the Thai PBS television station and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth).

Long boat races on Pranburi River Nov. 26

A second longboat racing event will take place on Pranburi River on Nov. 26, following the longboat races on the Kao Tao Reservoir a week earlier. Teams from all over Thailand are expected to participate.

Registration to compete is open until Nov. 15, at the Education Office of Pak Nam Pran sub district Municipality. For inquiries, call 0-3263-1662.

Heavy rains threaten southern Thailand

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning today about weather conditions in Thailand. The northern part of the country is experiencing morning fog and increasing rainfall. Simultaneously, the southern region is facing substantial downpours, causing a sudden risk of flooding and rapid forest runoff.

Serious air pollution forecast in and around Bangkok this weekend

The Pollution Control Department has warned residents of Bangkok and its suburbs that, from Friday to Sunday, air quality, especially in eastern Bangkok and southern Thon Buri, is likely to deteriorate to Orange Level, meaning it could have an impact on health.

Chiang Mai nightclub scandal: Police officers relocated, 242 minors found using fake IDs

Five police officers from Chang Phueak Police Station have been relocated following a Halloween night incident involving 242 minors under 20 years old using fake identification to enter a nightclub.

The minors were found to have altered their birth dates on their national identification cards to gain entry. An investigation committee was set up today. Scaled-down EV subsidies approved

Thai Air Asia will reduce direct flights from four to twice weekly between Chiang Mai, the gateway city to north Thailand and the beach resort town of Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand.
