Storm warning for North, South to see heavy rain and flash floods
A tropical storm could bring thundershowers and gusty winds to upper Thailand until Monday, Thai Meteorological Department said today.
Hailstorms, lightning and heavy rains are forecast in some areas during this period, the department added, warning people in upper Thailand to stay away from large trees and unsecured billboards. The banking crisis, tight monetary policies and the overall macroeconomic slowdown have increased the demand for gold from major central banks around the world, as the precious metal is regarded as the proper safe haven, the World Gold Council said.

The first half of this fiscal year has seen many foreign companies shifting their manufacturing bases to Thailand and taking over up to 2,900 rai (464 hectares) of land in industrial estates.
Veeris Ammarapala, governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), said on Tuesday that 2,975 rai of land in industrial estates around the country was either rented or sold to foreign investors from October last year to March this year. Continued …

Police on Tuesday laid another charge against alleged serial killer Sararat “Aem” Rangsiwuthaporn after police said they had evidence showing she poisoned a 15th victim with cyanide in 2015.
According to Deputy National Police Chief Surachate Hakparn, who is leading the investigation, police in Thong Lor – the area where the death of the 15th alleged victim, Monthathip “Sai” Khao-in, occurred – on Tuesday invited the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital doctor, who performed the autopsy, for questioning. A man formerly imprisoned for sex crimes has confessed to murdering the Thai-British teenager who was found dead in the woods of Lampang province, northern Thailand, on Sunday. The police are still searching for the deceased’s missing girlfriend.
Police arrested a 44-year-old Thai man named Chaiwat Boonkarin under suspicion of murder and concealing a corpse on Monday. Initially, he denied the charges. A man reportedly killed four stray dogs at Kantang Stadium in Trang province in the southern part of Thailand on Monday. The dog killer in question brutally slashed each dog and left their dead bodies on a road, causing outrage among locals and animal-rights activists.
