Auto output could hit 14-year low

 

Thailand’s automotive production could plunge to a 14-year low this year, excluding the pandemic years of 2020-22, dipping to 1.65 million units, though monthly production is expected to start improving slowly in the fourth quarter, says Krungsri Securities (KS).

Thailand Aims to Boost Tourism in Second half of 2024

Regarding this year’s tourism revenue goal of 3.5 trillion baht ($95 billion), with 36.7 million foreign tourists expected, Minister of Tourism and Sports Sermsak Pongpanich expressed serious concerns about reaching the target.

The ministry, therefore, implemented the tourism policy of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to stimulate the market in the latter half of the year, particularly during the peak season, to generate an additional 2.4 trillion baht in tourism revenue and attract an extra 21.7 million foreign tourists to Thailand. New E-Gates for Thai Passports Debut at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Police Lt. Gen. Itthiphol Ithisarnronnachai, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, yesterday inspected the new automatic passport control gates at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The inspection highlighted the introduction of new e-gates designed to streamline the passport-control process for Thai nationals. The new automatic channels, a project supported by Airports of Thailand (AOT), will be phased in gradually. Initially, 13 of the planned 56 new e-gates have been activated at the departure area. Airport shops, offices make way for new passenger facilities

Airports of Thailand (AoT) has taken back some areas used by shops and government agencies at Suvarnabhumi and Phuket airports that will now be used to provide better facilities for travellers.

Chief Executive Kirati Kitmanawat said on Monday that AoT had repossesed 1,907 square meters of space in the main concourse and SAT-1 buildings at Suvarnabhumi airport and 491 square meters in the international passenger terminal at Phuket airport. Continued …
