Understanding Thailand’s New Tax Directive on Foreign Income

The Revenue Department of Thailand recently issued Directive No. 161/2566, dated Sept. 15, stipulating that individuals with foreign-sourced income must include it in their tax calculations for the year they repatriate the income to Thailand. The directive takes effect from Jan. 1, 2024.

The directive is grounded in Section 41 Paragraph 2 of Thailand’s Revenue Code, which establishes the principle that tax obligations are determined by one’s residence in Thailand. According to the section, anyone residing in Thailand for at least 180 days within a tax year and generating income abroad from employment or assets must include that income when filing taxes if the money is brought into Thailand within the same tax year. Torrential rains inundate large swathes of Thailand

Many provinces across the country, mostly in the north, were heavily flooded on Saturday following overnight downpours. Among the provinces most affected by flooding are Phrae, Lampang, Mae Hong Son, and Phitsanulok in the north, and Prachinburi in the east.

Hua Hin-Pattaya bus service twice a day

Hua Hin now has once-daily bus service to Pattaya, leaving Hua Hin at 9am and departing from Pattaya at 8am. Tickets are 473 THB.

Tickets can be bought in person at the Hua Hin bus station or online. Buses depart from the Hua Hin bus station and in front of Government Savings Bank, Cha Am.. Tickets
