Thailand third for digital nomads, fourth for retirees
Thailand has ranked third in the world for digital nomads and fourth for retirees in the Rumavi Global Relocation Index 2026, which assessed 192 countries and territories.
Thailand was placed behind Malaysia and Portugal in Rumavi’s digital nomad category, receiving a score of 75.4. In the retirement ranking, Thailand scored 74.3, behind Malaysia, Panama and Portugal. Continued …
New drainage system for soi 10
A new concrete road and drainage system for Hua Hin Soi 10 have been completed under a municipal project, with a construction budget of 5.42 million baht. Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul and municipal officials inspected the work last week as part of the formal acceptance process.
The road connects Phetkasem Road with the road alongside the irrigation canal. Nopporn said the improvements would help traffic flow more smoothly along the route. Continued …
Cameras record wildlife at PKK sanctuary
Camera traps have recorded tigers in Prachuap Khiri Khan alongside Fea’s muntjac and other rare wildlife during a five-month survey, conservation officials announced yesterday.

Thailand cuts diesel price by 2.40 baht a liter
Thailand’s diesel prices are set to fall from Wednesday, after the Energy Policy Administration Committee approved a cut of 2.40 baht per liter (roughly $0.07) at the refinery level.
The reduction, published in the Royal Gazette, will apply to all three grades of diesel sold in the country: B0, B7, and B20. It will remain in effect until Oct. 31. Continued …
NIDA poll: Thais cite concerns over Israelis’ conduct
A new NIDA Poll has found that many Thai respondents who had heard reports of, or experienced, alleged inappropriate or illegal behavior by Israelis in Thailand said their main concern was a lack of respect for the law.
The survey, released yesterday, also said the public wanted officials to enforce the law strictly and decisively. Its findings reflect respondents’ perceptions based on news and personal experience, rather than verified findings against individuals. Continued …
Gan Chabad network investigated over land and nominees
Thailand’s Interior Ministry has expanded its investigation into Gan Chabad Co., from a Jewish cemetery in Chachoengsao to land holdings, company structures and possible nominee arrangements involving dozens of linked businesses.
The inquiry began at a cemetery in Samet Tai subdistrict, Bang Khla district, and now involves the Commerce Ministry, Department of Special Investigation and Anti-Money Laundering Office. Thailand emergency medical system faces major gaps as 2,574 subdistricts lack units
Thailand still has 2,574 subdistricts without adequate standard emergency medical units, while a Senate working group is pushing for expanded local coverage and plans to increase the number of paramedics to 7,500 within five years.
The review found major gaps in coverage, staffing and emergency response units, particularly in thousands of subdistricts where residents still lack access to standard emergency medical services. Continued …
Houthis say Saudi Arabia launched over 50 strikes against them in 24 hours
Yemen’s Houthis said yesterday that Saudi Arabia had launched more than 50 strikes against their positions in 24 hours, after the Iran-backed group claimed a rare drone and missile attack on a military base in the kingdom.
The Houthis have been engaged in renewed fighting with Saudi-backed government forces since Yemen’s civil war reignited in July, when the group declared a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia and began targeting its ships in the Red Sea. Continued …
Oil climbs over 2% after Saudi and Hormuz attacks
Brent and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures gained more than 2% in early trading today, following renewed Houthi strikes on Saudi Arabia and Iranian attacks on ships in the Gulf.
Brent traded at US$107.51 a barrel, up US$2.90 or 2.77%, today. WTI was up US$2.27, or 2.27%, at US$102.32 a barrel at the same time. Continued …
Five oil firms eye Thailand’s planned 2026 Andaman bids
Thailand’s Energy Ministry hopes to launch its 26th petroleum bidding round in the Andaman Sea by late 2026, with five major energy companies identified as potential participants, but Cabinet approval of key fiscal terms remains pending, according to media reports.
The Andaman initiative is intended to strengthen Thailand’s energy security as major gas fields in the Gulf of Thailand decline. The estimated life of Thailand’s proved gas reserves, or 1P, is 4.6 years, rising to 8.3 years when probable reserves are included in the combined 2P estimate. Continued …

Customs collects over 4 billion baht on low-value imports in 11 months
Thailand’s Customs Department collected more than 4 billion baht in import duties on goods worth no more than 1,500 baht in the first 11 months of fiscal 2026, Director-general Phantong Loykulnanta said, reporting a shift toward purchases from domestic sellers.
The low-value imports comprised 225 million items worth a combined 41 billion baht during the first 11 months of fiscal 2026, according to Phantong’s figures. Continued …
Phuket property market hits 705 billion baht as foreign buyers drive resort demand
Phuket’s property market has reached a total value of more than 705 billion baht, the highest among Thailand’s regional provinces, with resort condominiums and villas accounting for more than half of residential supply and foreign buyers remaining a major source of demand.
Sopon Pornchokchai, president of the Thai Real Estate Research and Valuation Center at Agency for Real Estate Affairs (AREA), said its 2026 survey found 90,597 residential and accommodation units on the market in Phuket, worth a combined 705.055 billion baht. Continued …
Is high season the right time for tourism stimulus?
Thailand’s proposed Thai Travel Plus, or Thai Tiew Thai Plus, scheme has an admirable objective: to encourage domestic tourism and spread tourism spending more widely across the country. The proposal is expected to go before Cabinet on Sept. 22, with a government budget of around 3.5 billion baht.
Under the latest proposal, the scheme will subsidize up to one million hotel room nights, with each eligible Thai traveler able to receive support for up to five nights. Accommodation support would be capped at 2,000 baht per night, alongside digital vouchers intended to encourage spending at restaurants, attractions and other tourism businesses. Continued …
Chiang Mai farmers move to preserve local herb as ‘Makwean’ earns GI registration
Farmers in Pong Yaeng subdistrict of Chiang Mai’s Mae Rim district are rolling out plans to preserve native crop strains and upgrade processed products after Chiang Mai Makwean was officially registered as the province’s eighth geographical indication (GI) product by the Department of Intellectual Property.
Grown on slopes 800 to 1,000 meters above sea level, Makwean (Zanthoxylum limonella) is an iconic Lanna spice prized for its intense aroma and sharp, fiery flavor. The spice joins a list of Chiang Mai GI products, including Bo Sang umbrellas, Chiang Mai Celadon, Mae Chaem Teen Jok fabric, Thep Sadet coffee, Lanna purple sticky rice, Fang Sai Nam Phung oranges and Fang Emperor lychee.
