From sushi to salmon curry: Norwegian seafood makes its presence felt
Back in the 1980s, the Norwegian salmon industry found itself facing a major problem: it simply had too much salmon and not enough markets to which it could be sold.

Why Some Fear Thais Are Becoming Slave to the US
Former silver-screen superstar Jarunee Suksawat’s warning that Thais may become “slaves of America” attracted front page news in many media and many readers, particularly young readers, who found it ludicrous and hilarious.
Perception is reality for some Thais, however, and this writer has little doubt that the former actress, who was featured in hundreds of films back in the 1970s and 1980s, was speaking, or ranting, from her heart judging from her paranoiac face. Continued …

Thai luxury hotel farms its own food, from eggs and bacon to bananas and mushrooms
When on holiday, fresh eggs cooked to order, creamy yogurt, delicate smoked salmon and crispy bacon are some of the breakfast ingredients many travelers have come to expect from the average luxury resort.
But it certainly adds another dimension to the indulgence to discover that most, if not all of this food has been grown or made at the resort. Being offered freshly laid duck eggs at the egg station is often the first indication that, at the Conrad Koh Samui, there is more to the food than the mass-procured fare typically served by a large hotel group.
